For many, the ambience that a beautiful tealight or candle can bring to a romantic meal or cozy drink is priceless, but the but the often overlooked issue is the environmental impact.

Paraffin wax, derived from petroleum, is commonly used in candle making due to its low cost and availability. However, there are several potential issues associated with the use of paraffin wax for candles:

  • Toxic Emissions: When paraffin wax is burned, it can release harmful toxins and pollutants into the air, including benzene and toluene, which are known carcinogens. These emissions can contribute to indoor air pollution and have adverse effects on respiratory health, especially for individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions.
  • Soot Production: Paraffin candles tend to produce more soot compared to candles made from other types of wax, such as soy or beeswax. Soot can blacken walls, ceilings, and furniture, and it can also pose health risks when inhaled.
  • Non-Renewable Resource: Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum, which is a finite, non-renewable resource. Its extraction and production contribute to environmental degradation and carbon emissions.
  • Incomplete Combustion: Paraffin wax candles may exhibit incomplete combustion, leading to uneven burning and wasted wax.

We have sourced the most cost-effective vegan, cruelty free, sustainable wax to use in our refillable 250ml candles so all you are paying for is the wax you use, and we buy in bulk in order to keep that cost as low as possible.

We make and manufacture everything ourselves in Bristol and what's more, to help your budget even further, we can create a branded label and custom gift box for your candles using your logo / colour scheme / font or from your own artwork supplied to us which gives you the opportunity to sell momentos of your customer’s visit at a healthy mark up, to help offset the cost of your order.

Cost example

A restaurant with 10 tables purchases 100 unboxed, branded candles from us at £4 each. They sell 10 of those on to their customers for £10 each and use the rest. Each candle will burn beautifully for 4 hours at a time, for a total of 36 hours. This restaurant is open six days a week and only burns candles in the evenings.

The candles will last for three months and cost the resturant: £300 in total.

The even better bit

This restaurant then returns their tins to us and we refill them and replace all the ones sold, replacing any marked labels so the next purchase of 100 costs only £3 each for 90 refill candles, and £4 for 10 new ones. They sell another 10 and use the rest.
